Heliotrope is a brand that embodies the natural tendency of plants to turn towards the sun, or animals to move towards the light. The name itself, derived from the Greek words helios (sun) and tropos (to turn), captures the essence of this phenomenon. Led by Howard Coale, president, strategist, and lead designer, Heliotrope offers a range of innovative products and services.

Previously, Coale held positions at Publicis Sapient and Sapient Global Markets, where he specialized in user experience strategy and design, design thinking, service design, and data visualization. He led major projects for renowned organizations such as Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, JPMorgan Chase, Pfizer, and Microsoft, among others. Before establishing Heliotrope, Coale founded Tacitus, a company that focused on designing 3D bio-pathway visualization tools and remote data analysis/collaboration software for genomic research.

Their groundbreaking software, called BRAC, revolutionized complex biological pathway analysis in cancer research, earning it the nickname XBox for scientists. Coale's expertise in this field led to his involvement in guiding grant decisions for data visualization in cancer research by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Heliotrope, with its visionary leadership and dedication to innovation, continues to redefine the boundaries of design and technology.
