## Description

Hengitystuki ry, formerly known as Hengityslaitepotilaat ry, is a Finnish association founded in 1956. It connects people who rely on life-sustaining ventilators and advocates for their rights, working nationwide to support them and their families. The association provides peer support for ventilator users and loved ones through WhatsApp groups, online discussion sessions, and opportunities to share experiences and practical knowledge. Its website offers information about respiratory failure, life with breathing support, and changes to disability services legislation, alongside guidance for professionals and people navigating services. Hengitystuki ry also organizes events, publishes news and personal stories, and shares statements and resources related to the needs of its community. Its work includes helping people understand changes in how support and care teams are arranged under Finnish disability services legislation. Through accessible information, community activities, and peer connections, the association aims to help individuals and families find support in changing circumstances and make informed decisions about everyday life with a ventilator.
