# Hengstaufzucht Hof Helbig - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `hengstaufzucht-hof-helbig.de` ## Description Hof Helbig is a horse-rearing farm in Neutestorf, Ostholstein, in the Holstein Switzerland region near the Baltic Sea. Martin Helbig and his late wife Heike took over Martin’s parents’ farm in 2006 and established a focus on raising young stallions and horses of different ages. The farm also accommodates retired horses and horses needing a period of rehabilitation or rest. Its facilities include three bright, spacious loose-housing boxes converted from a former cattle barn, with direct access to paddocks. The largest box can accommodate up to 20 young stallions. In winter, horses have access to the boxes and well-maintained paddocks, which were renewed in 2017. From May to October, they graze on extensive, hilly pastureland; its varied terrain encourages movement and supports muscle and ligament development. The Helbig family produces its own straw, hay and haylage for the horses.
