# Henrietta Lacks Foundation™ - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `henriettalacksfoundation.org` ## Description The Henrietta Lacks Foundation™ is a non-profit organization established in 2010 by Rebecca Skloot, inspired by the legacy of Henrietta Lacks. Known for her HeLa cells, which were taken without her knowledge in 1951, Henrietta's story highlights critical issues in medical ethics and the exploitation of individuals—particularly within minority communities—in scientific research. Dedicated to supporting those impacted by such research abuses, the Foundation provides grants and assistance to individuals and families who have made significant contributions to science without reaping the benefits. It actively promotes discussions about consent, healthcare disparities, and the ethical uses of biological materials in research. The Foundation has helped many, including the descendants of Henrietta Lacks, to achieve their educational and healthcare goals. It invites public participation through donations, fueling its mission to honor Henrietta’s legacy and advocate for justice in healthcare and research for underserved communities. All contributions are tax-deductible, aligning with the Foundation’s commitment to social justice and equity in medical research. ## Industries - 🎗 Community and Society - 🎗 Philanthropy _(under Community and Society)_ - 🧪 Science and Education - 🧪 Grants Scholarships and Financial Aid _(under Science and Education)_ ## Links - [facebook](https://facebook.com/henriettalacksfoundation) ## Logos & icons - logo _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/idaWn4cjyK/w/163/h/42/theme/light/logo.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1697936251616) - icon _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/idaWn4cjyK/w/468/h/468/theme/dark/icon.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1756291309117) ## Colors | Name | Hex | Theme | | --- | --- | --- | | Cardinal | #c72136 | accent | | Emperor | #555555 | dark | | White | #ffffff | light | ## Fonts - Oswald — asset _(google)_ - -apple-system — asset _(system)_ --- _Source: _ _See [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a full list of agent-readable pages, and [/auth.md](/auth.md) for how agents authenticate._
