## Description

The Society of Friends of Egypt “Herhor” is a Polish organization for people interested in the history, culture, and archaeology of ancient Egypt. Founded by individuals connected with Polish archaeological research at Deir el-Bahari, the society aims to make knowledge of this ancient civilization more widely accessible and to support research projects by Polish archaeologists. Its name refers to the high priest Herhor, a figure in Egyptian history and in Bolesław Prus’s novel Pharaoh.

Herhor shares information about archaeological work and discoveries through its website, which features articles, educational materials, photographs from excavations, and specialist commentary. The organization also helps readers explore topics including Egyptian religion, art, and daily life. Beyond its publications, the society brings together enthusiasts through meetings, lectures, and other educational initiatives, encouraging discussion and the exchange of knowledge. Its news and project updates provide a way to follow the society’s activities and Polish research in Egypt.
