## Description

**The Livestock Conservancy** is a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on safeguarding endangered livestock and poultry breeds from extinction. Founded in 1977, their mission involves protecting over 150 breeds, including donkeys, cattle, goats, horses, sheep, pigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. The organization emphasizes the importance of genetic diversity, which is vital for sustainable agriculture and food security, especially in an era where a significant number of breeds are at risk.

To fulfill their mission, The Livestock Conservancy employs a three-step process: Discover, Secure, and Sustain. They uncover rare breeds, document populations, and ensure their preservation through strategic breeding plans. By promoting the integration of these heritage breeds into modern farming practices, they foster biodiversity and resilience in agricultural systems. The organization also supports education and resource programs for breeders and small farms, ensuring the legacy of these unique animals which represent an irreplaceable part of our agricultural heritage.
