# Herning Kendo - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `herningkendo.dk` ## Description Herning Kendo Klub is a martial arts club in Herning, Denmark, welcoming people who want to learn kendo, regardless of athletic experience or ability. Its philosophy is that anyone willing to train can take part. Kendo offers an opportunity to practise a distinctive Japanese martial art involving bamboo swords, focused movement and limited physical contact. The club also offers iaido, another Japanese sword art. Training is presented as both a physical and mental practice. Kendo engages the whole body and can develop strength and endurance, while focused exercises encourage self-control, respect, compassion and concentration. Practitioners also work on staying calm and balanced under pressure, skills the club describes as useful in everyday life, school and work. Kendo sessions take place on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.; Thursday kendo training requires bogu, or protective armour.
