## Description

Heroes Past & Present is a dedicated initiative aimed at educating young people about the rich tapestry of post-World War II conflicts through engaging resources. Founded by Stuart Gradwell and Helen Robinson, the project arose from conversations with students at South Chadderton School, revealing a significant knowledge gap regarding modern military history. With the support of the Heritage Lottery, the team has been able to create a comprehensive book, website, and various learning materials that highlight the experiences of veterans.

The initiative features interviews with veterans from conflicts such as the Korean War, the Falklands, and Iraq, providing a profound connection between students and the personal accounts of those who served. Alongside a dedicated group of volunteers, the project not only focuses on historical conflicts but also emphasizes cross-curricular creative projects to inspire students to explore their own social history. Through these efforts, Heroes Past & Present honors the stories of these heroes, ensuring their legacies and experiences are not forgotten.
