The Hertfordshire Association of School Governors (HASG) is an independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in Hertfordshire. They achieve this through sharing knowledge, mentoring activities, and promoting high standards in school governance. Affiliated with the National Governors Association, HASG provides local benefits to its members while maintaining a strong relationship with the NGA.

HASG encourages both Academy and maintained schools to join them, with approximately 70% of Hertfordshire schools already subscribing to their services. They have an Executive Committee of up to 15 members who meet regularly throughout the academic year. Their objectives include supporting the development and good practice of governors and governing bodies, furthering the education of children in Hertfordshire schools, and promoting cooperation between schools.

Membership offers numerous benefits, including access to briefings and a governor-led perspective on national and local concerns. HASG also provides a platform for local governors to network and discuss important issues with each other. Governing body membership costs £85 per academic year, and HASG welcomes inquiries from both existing and potential members
