## Description

Hertsmere Mencap is an independent, self-financing local charity supporting people with learning disabilities and their families in Borehamwood, Potters Bar, Bushey, Elstree, Radlett and surrounding communities. Affiliated with the Royal Mencap Society, the charity helps people build confidence, develop skills, make friends and take part in activities they enjoy. Its services are shaped around individual needs and extend support to children, families and wider family members.

For adults, Hertsmere Mencap runs weekday activities led by professionals experienced in working with people with learning disabilities. Options include arts and crafts, drama, music, dance aerobics, social clubs, an evening youth club, and opportunities to meet for coffee and conversation. A first session is free, with subsequent sessions listed at £5.

For children, the Holiday Club provides respite care and age- and stage-appropriate activities during one week at Easter and around four weeks in summer. The charity also offers Christmas holiday activity days and an annual party, with activities such as creative and sensory play, music, sport and cooking.
