## Description

The Hoge Gezondheidsraad (HGR) is Belgium's primary advisory body focused on public health, dedicated to providing scientific recommendations and insights to improve the well-being of its citizens. With a commitment to independence, the HGR operates under stringent ethical guidelines to mitigate any conflicts of interest among its experts. It addresses a wide array of health domains, including blood and blood derivatives, mental health, and infection control, among others.

The council offers vital guidance on various public health issues, such as vaccination strategies for COVID-19 and RSV, and nutrition guidelines. Their comprehensive approach ensures that health professionals and the government have access to the latest evidence-based information, enabling them to protect and enhance the health of the population effectively. In addition to publishing annual reports and advisories, the HGR actively engages in fostering dialogue on key public health matters, making it an indispensable resource for health policy in Belgium.
