As a science-based organization, we focus on sustainable livelihoods for Himalayan communities and scientific research on Himalayan biodiversity and the environment. Our goal is to promote prosperous communities living in harmony with nature and managing biodiversity in the Himalayan region. We provide expert advice to government authorities and other concerned agencies on social development and environmental management. Through periodic statements, we raise public and policy maker awareness on sustainable livelihood issues and environmental challenges. Supported by renowned livelihood advisers and conservation scientists, we collaborate with similar organizations in Nepal and beyond. Our work spans multiple countries, including India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and Myanmar. While we have study centers in Nepal, our geographic coverage is wide-ranging. We work closely with community-based organizations and welcome collaboration. As a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), we contribute to global conservation efforts.
