HIPS is an organization that is dedicated to promoting the health, rights, and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by sexual exchange and/or drug use. With a compassionate approach, HIPS provides harm reduction services, advocacy, and community engagement to support and empower individuals in a non-judgmental environment. Their services include syringe exchange, condom distribution, access to overdose prevention supplies, and linkage to a full range of support services, such as mental health support, housing assistance, and substance use treatment. HIPS also offers daily support groups and provides shower and laundry facilities, clothing, and referrals to their services. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, HIPS relies on the support of volunteers, local community advocates, religious organizations, foundations, and businesses to carry out their important work. By donating to HIPS, individuals can make a significant impact and support unfunded programs that benefit the communities they serve. Located in Washington, D.C., HIPS is committed to challenging structural barriers and creating a society where those engaged in sex work, sex trade, and drug use can live healthy, self-determined lives free from stigma, violence, criminalization, or oppression.
