## Description

Historical Materialism is a London-based Marxist journal founded in 1997 and published four times a year. It promotes critical Marxist theory as a framework for analysing social phenomena and supporting their transformation, while welcoming a range of theoretical traditions and applying critical scrutiny to Marxism itself. The journal publishes research articles, book reviews, interviews, reading guides and other contributions, alongside online-first material and themed issues. Its wider publishing programme includes a book series featuring works on socialist intellectual history, Western Marxism and political theory.

Beyond publishing, Historical Materialism convenes conferences and events in London and through an international network of locations, including Paris, New York, Athens and Delhi. Its activities also include a Marxist-Feminist Stream, a Decists Working Group, podcasts and broadcasts exploring topics such as race, Palestine, health, oil and revolutionary movements. The organisation shares news, event announcements and publication updates through its website and newsletter. Together, these resources connect scholarship, political debate and public discussion for readers and researchers interested in critical Marxist perspectives.
