Welcome to Historic Central School! We are a cultural and heritage center located in Lake City, Iowa. Our mission is to develop, maintain, and share this historic school building with the community. At Historic Central School, you will find a wealth of historical resources.

We house the complete collection of the Lake City Graphic newspaper, as well as back issues from neighboring towns. While access to the archives is limited to authorized personnel, we are happy to assist with research upon donation. Explore our building and you'll discover a room that recreates a kindergarten classroom, designed under the guidance of Hester Crosswait, a former teacher.

Additionally, we offer our facilities for reservations, such as reunions and receptions. Our alumni room can comfortably accommodate up to 40 people, complete with seating, tables, and a fully equipped wet bar. Join us for a visit during our regular hours of operation, weekdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
