## Description

Historische Kring Neede is a local historical association dedicated to preserving and sharing the heritage of Neede and its surroundings. Founded in 1978, the organisation works to protect local historical character, encourage research and make knowledge of the area’s past accessible to future generations. Its stories and collections capture how Neede and its residents, shops, hospitality businesses and industries changed over the twentieth century.

The association offers several ways to explore this history. Visitors can discover archival photographs, documents, exhibitions and articles, including material on local people, buildings and events. Its twice-yearly publication, Old Nee, shares historical topics with members, while the “Uit de oude doos” feature invites people to contribute memories and photographs. The group also organises activities and presentations, and opens the Oale Smederieje to visitors on selected occasions. Its website provides news, information about exhibitions and activities, details about membership, and ways to get in touch. Through its archive, publications and community involvement, Historische Kring Neede helps keep the area’s past alive.
