Historiscope is an innovative brand born from the vision of Historic Environment Scotland (HES) in 2020, aiming to enhance tourist engagement with Scotland's rich historical sites. Developed by SENSEcity, an Immersive Design Studio based in Glasgow, Historiscope reimagines the traditional telescope into Scotland’s first Augmented Reality (AR) enabled viewing scope. This transformative product allows visitors to interact with monuments by providing immersive content that showcases historical views and narratives.

The development journey involved rigorous research and design, resulting in the successful installation of a proof of concept at Urquhart Castle in September 2021, followed by a highly praised prototype at Stirling Castle in March 2022. Historiscope is designed to create memorable experiences for tourists, encouraging exploration and connection with Scotland's heritage. SENSEcity’s dedication to sustainable and custom hardware development furthers the mission of bringing cultural experiences alive in an engaging manner. With a commitment to immersive storytelling, Historiscope invites explorers to connect with history like never before.
