## Description

HistoryLink.org is a free online encyclopedia dedicated to the history of Washington State. With more than 8,600 articles, the organization makes regional history accessible through researched stories about people, communities, institutions, and events. Its coverage ranges from Indigenous and immigrant experiences, politics, education, and transportation to local mysteries, cultural landmarks, and everyday life across Washington.

Visitors can explore the site through a searchable article archive, a state history timeline, and features such as “This Week Then” and “Today in Washington History,” which connect anniversaries and current dates with historical events. HistoryLink also offers podcasts, book reviews, educational resources for teaching history, and guided tours. Its work is supported by historians, staff, trustees and advisers, donors, and readers. In addition to its public-facing encyclopedia and publications, HistoryLink undertakes commissioned work and hosts events. The site invites visitors to contribute through donations and provides information about its people, projects, and contact channels. Together, these resources serve students, educators, researchers, residents, and anyone interested in understanding Washington’s past.
