History… the interesting bits! is a history-focused website featuring articles, guest contributions, book discussions, and events. It is associated with Sharon Bennett Connolly, who writes about historical subjects and welcomes other authors to share their research. The site covers people and events from different periods, with a particular interest in medieval and Tudor history. Its content includes biographies, historical analysis, and explorations of the lives and relationships behind well-known figures.

The featured guest post introduces Rosemary Griggs’s Queen Elizabeth I’s Governess: The Real Kat Ashley, a work of historical nonfiction examining Kate Astley’s nearly thirty years in Elizabeth I’s service. The article discusses Astley’s role as governess, mentor, and trusted household figure, including her responsibilities for Elizabeth’s education, clothing, and welfare during the dangerous political shifts of Mary I’s reign. Alongside such book-related features, the website offers information about its author, published books, contact details, and upcoming events. It serves readers interested in accessible historical writing, scholarly perspectives, and the people whose stories are often overshadowed by more prominent figures.
