Choma Magazine is an interactive mobile phone magazine that engages with South African girl adolescents between the ages of 15 and 25. Its primary aim is to provide them with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about sexual reproductive health and HIV, ultimately working towards preventing new HIV infections and promoting an HIV-free generation. Through Choma Magazine, young women have 24/7 access to a wide range of popular lifestyle content as well as critical information on HIV and sexual reproductive health.
The magazine also offers one-on-one psychosocial support and reaches thousands of youth online. Choma Magazine is just one aspect of HIVSA, a not-for-profit organization established in 2002 that empowers individuals, community workers, and organizations to effectively address socio-economic and health issues in the context of high HIV and AIDS burden. With a focus on capacity development and resilience building, HIVSA is a strategic partner of the Gauteng Provincial Departments of Health and Social Development, working towards creating an HIV-free generation
