## Description

HMBANA, the Human Milk Banking Association of North America, is dedicated to ensuring that all infants have access to human milk for their optimal health. Established in 1985, HMBANA works towards this goal by mobilizing the healing power of donor milk through their network of 27 nonprofit milk banks in the United States and Canada. HMBANA accredits these milk banks and sets international guidelines for pasteurized donor human milk, ensuring that the process is evidence-based and clinically sound. Their members play a crucial role in helping mothers donate their excess breast milk, which is then used as medicine for fragile infants. Beyond their advocacy efforts, HMBANA also offers various ways to support their cause. You can donate milk, money, or time to help them continue their important work. Additionally, they conduct research and organize events like the International Donor Milk Conference in 2024. Supported by membership fees, foundation funds, and individual donors, HMBANA strives to make donor milk a universal standard of care, accessible to all infants, regardless of their ability to pay.
