Since its establishment in 2000 as part of the High-Tech Offensive Bayern, it has played a crucial role in promoting an entrepreneurial culture closely linked to higher education. Originally targeting students, researchers, and graduates interested in starting their own ventures, HOCHSPRUNG has evolved into a statewide network of entrepreneurship actors from all universities, making it an important part of Bavaria's startup ecosystem.

Over the years, it has pioneered initiatives such as the 5-Euro-Business Competition, the HOCHSPRUNG-Media Award for founders, and the Bavarian University Entrepreneurship Conference. Today, HOCHSPRUNG continues to foster information exchange, collaboration, and entrepreneurial skills development through its Academy, Conference, and Forum.
