## Description

Hoguera Calvo Sotelo is a community organization in Alicante dedicated to celebrating and sustaining the city’s Hogueras tradition. Its motto, “Mai es tard,” and its history dating to 1928 reflect a long-standing commitment to making the festival part of local life. The organization brings together a commission whose members contribute voluntarily, and welcomes people connected with both Plaza de Calvo Sotelo and its familiar name, “La Plaza de las Palomas.”

Its activities span adult and children’s bonfires, the selection and presentation of adult and junior festival representatives, and the participation of ladies of honor. The group also supports the wider cultural heritage of the Hogueras through music, literature, preserved ninots, awards, and audiovisual archives. Its website shares festival news, photographs, videos, and updates about artists and upcoming celebrations, while offering information about membership, traditional dress, and the Racó. Related activities include barracas and partnerships with other groups. Hoguera Calvo Sotelo connects residents through community participation, cultural preservation, and the shared experience of Alicante’s annual festivities.
