## Description

Homewood Studios, located in Minneapolis MN, is a brand that holds a rich history and a strong commitment to its community. Originally rooted in the late sixties and early seventies, Homewood was founded by like-minded individuals dedicated to diversity, social justice, and community activism. They sought to create a nurturing and vibrant neighborhood by rehabilitating dilapidated homes from the early part of the century. Today, Homewood Studios offers a range of products and services to the community. Their beautifully renovated brick building houses five work space studios for local artists, as well as a community gallery and meeting place. The brand also features a back yard sculpture and flower garden, inviting residents and studio artists to connect and interact. Additionally, Homewood Studios collaborates with other initiatives, such as the Plymouth Avenue Art Studio, to revitalize the area and create a safe and creative space for artists to live and work. Since its establishment in 1999, Homewood Studios has showcased the work of local artists through twelve to fifteen gallery shows annually. Their focus on African-American and Hmong artists furthers their commitment to diversity and representation in the art community. From its humble beginnings, Homewood Studios has become a transformative force in their neighborhood, providing a platform for artists and bringing life back to this historic community.
