## Description

Horizon Europe is a significant research and innovation funding program developed as part of the UK's association with the EU following the Trade and Cooperation Agreement established in December 2020. With a total budget of €80 billion and a focus on excellent research, global challenges, and European industrial competitiveness, Horizon Europe aims to foster collaborative partnerships between scientists, researchers, and businesses in the UK and Northern Ireland and their international counterparts.

This program builds on its predecessor, Horizon 2020, and emphasizes innovative solutions across various sectors. The funding is directed towards three main areas: Excellent Science, Global Challenges, and Innovative Europe. For the 2023-2024 period alone, Horizon Europe is set to allocate €13.5 billion aimed at driving impactful research. Eligible participants can access various forms of support through the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) platform, ensuring that UK and Northern Irish entities can compete on equal footing with their EU counterparts. For continuous updates and specific funding details, interested parties are encouraged to explore the UK government and UKRI websites.
