## Description

The Ökumenische Hospiz-Gruppe Marienheide is a regional group of IGSL-Hospiz e.V. serving people in Marienheide and the surrounding area. For nearly 30 years, the ecumenical, volunteer-led organisation has supported seriously ill and dying people, as well as their families, with compassionate, respectful companionship regardless of faith or background. Its trained hospice volunteers offer time, attention and emotional support during difficult life situations, including in care settings. The group also helps people experiencing bereavement through individual conversations, a breakfast gathering for mourners and Walk’n’Talk, a supportive walking and conversation service. Community outreach includes events that encourage open discussion about life, death, dying and grief, sometimes using the mobile “Lebenswagen” as a welcoming meeting place. The group provides information and practical resources, including a guidance folder for advance care planning and the “Rettung aus der Dose” emergency information service. It also offers opportunities to learn about hospice work, take part in activities, volunteer and support its work through donations.
