## Description

Hotpot is a voice-based dating app from Hotpot Technologies Ltd, designed to help people connect through conversation before appearance. Opening first in London in October, the app is for adults aged 18 and over and offers an alternative to endless scrolling. Signing up begins with a spoken introduction in response to a simple question. Members browse other people’s recorded answers, with photos revealed only after listening. To express interest, a person records a voice note; a match happens when both people have sent one another a note and seen each other’s single photo. Chat then takes place by voice message. Hotpot limits members to six matches at a time, encouraging more focused connections. Safety features include checks on photos, spoken profile answers and the first voice note someone sends to a member. Users can block or report others from their profile screens. The company also provides support, account deletion, privacy and safety information, and updates by email. Hotpot welcomes respectful participation and makes a like require a recording.
