## Description

Formed in 1956, the Health Physics Society (HPS) is a scientific organization for professionals specializing in radiation safety. Its mission is to support members in their work and promote excellence in the science and practice of radiation safety. Members represent diverse fields, including academia, government, medicine, research and development, analytical services, and consulting. The Society connects this community through chapters, specialist sections, committees, meetings, and professional development opportunities.

HPS provides information and resources for radiation safety professionals, students, teachers, and the public. Its offerings include Health Physics, the Society’s official research journal; publications, fact sheets, position statements, and standards; webinars and continuing education; and tools such as a radionuclide decay calculator. The Ask the Experts service gives people access to responses from radiation safety specialists, while educational resources include lesson plans and classroom materials. Students may also find scholarships, fellowships, and travel grants. Through membership, career resources, networking, and public information, HPS supports the practice, communication, and application of radiation protection.
