## Description

The Haiku Society of America (HSA) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1968 to promote the writing and appreciation of haiku in English. It brings together writers and readers interested in haiku and related forms, including senryu, haibun, renku, and rengay. The Society supports its community through meetings and events, regional groups, educational resources, bibliographies, a mentorship program, and information on haiku and its forms. Members can explore the HSA newsletter, member anthologies, and Frogpond, the Society’s journal, as well as resources on contests, books, and student haiku. The HSA also presents awards recognizing haiku, senryu, haibun, rengay, and books and anthologies related to the genre. Its activities include virtual conferences and opportunities for members to share work and engage with contemporary haiku. The organization emphasizes an inclusive, respectful environment, pledging to welcome differences and oppose discrimination, bullying, and harassment. Through publishing, education, community programs, and recognition of writers, the HSA helps foster appreciation and participation in English-language haiku.
