## Description

The Historical Society of Vandalia Butler is a community organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Vandalia and Butler Township in southwest Ohio. For more than thirty years, the Society has collected, restored, preserved, and displayed local artifacts and stories, helping residents and visitors understand the area’s heritage and its place in the wider American story. Its work includes maintaining historic sites and museum structures, sharing photographs, maps, and historical information, and educating the public through its website, newsletter, and community activities.

Visitors can explore local history through places such as the Hoottinger Homestead, Brown School, Alkaline Springs House, Log House, and Tadmor, as well as learn about Vandalia, Butler Township, local schools, and Al Johnson Flying Field. The Society also offers events, open houses, volunteer opportunities, memberships, and ways to donate or participate in preservation efforts. At scheduled Springhouse openings, visitors may bring clean containers to purchase Alkaline Springs water. The Society welcomes community support to help safeguard local history for future generations.
