## Description

Huey Long, also known as "the Kingfish," was a legendary populist Governor and U.S. Senator from Louisiana, whose life was tragically cut short at the age of 42 by an assassination in 1935. Long's political movement, "Share Our Wealth," aimed to combat corporate greed and government incompetence during the Great Depression, garnering millions of supporters and challenging President Franklin D. Roosevelt's re-election. As Governor, Long implemented modernization and reform programs, including building roads, bridges, and infrastructure, expanding education, voting rights, and healthcare, while lowering taxes for the majority. Long believed in government's role in protecting vulnerable citizens and providing equal opportunities, breaking the monopoly of the ruling elite. His legacy reshaped government's role in society, advocating for social security, veterans benefits, and public works projects.
