## Description

Hughes Race Built (HRB) is a premier engine building and tuning shop established by Tom Hughes in early 2017. Motivated by a lifelong passion for mechanics, Tom honed his skills through years of motocross competition and professional training, including an automotive machining apprenticeship and experience as a propulsion leader in aerospace. HRB specializes in high-performance race engines, particularly emphasizing four-valve engine tuning, and expertly manages everything from naturally aspirated two-litre engines to high-boost turbo RB30s.

Dedicated to supporting the speedway racing community in New Zealand, HRB maintains approximately 17 engines, primarily focusing on the quad-cam Toyota 1UZ. The shop also caters to the drifting and high-performance street car market, frequently collaborating with Nissan RB and 2JZ engines. In addition to complete engine builds, HRB offers a range of services, including head packages, short block assemblies, and in-house cylinder head machining, all delivered with the precision and excellence inspired by aerospace engineering.
