## Description

Humanitas is a nonprofit association and one of the main community building organizations in the Netherlands. Established in 1945 after World War II, Humanitas aims to assist individuals who are temporarily unable to manage on their own due to various circumstances. With 78 local chapters spread across 5 districts in the Netherlands, Humanitas provides support to tens of thousands of people annually. Their services are free of charge and available to anyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, lifestyle, or sexual orientation. From buddy projects for immigrants to chat services combating loneliness, and from parenting support to grief and loss support groups, Humanitas offers a wide range of activities. Volunteers are at the core of Humanitas, with over 700 projects led by well-trained volunteers who receive comprehensive training and continuous guidance. Humanitas upholds humanist values of equality, responsibility, and independence. Funding for their work comes from various government grants, charity lotteries, members, private foundations, and other donors. As a public benefit organization, Humanitas holds a seal of approval from the Central Bureau on Fundraising and is a member of various social organizations. For more information, contact their National Office in Amsterdam.
