The Australian Academy of the Humanities is the national voice for cultural, creative, and ethical thinking in Australia. With a Fellowship of over 660 humanities leaders, they are dedicated to promoting the study and application of the humanities. Their goal is to record, explain, and predict the human story, bringing diverse and distinctive ideas to decision-making and contributing to a better future for all. As one of Australia's five Learned Academies, they are an independent, not-for-profit organization established to encourage excellence in their field and provide expertise and advice at public, institutional, and government levels. Their vision is for a tolerant, inclusive, and clever Australia, enriched by a deep appreciation of histories, ideas, and cultures. They firmly believe that a better future for humanity depends on ethical, historical, creative, and cultural knowledge and expertise. The Academy's Strategic Plan challenges them to recognize, encourage, and celebrate the full range of humanities excellence in 21st century Australia, both within and beyond the university sector. Through their annual reports, they showcase their activities and fulfill the reporting requirements of their Royal Charter and By-laws, as well as the conditions of grants made by the Australian Government. The Australian Academy of the Humanities also recognizes and acknowledges Australia's First Nations Peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of the land, and their continuous connection to country, community, and culture.
