## Description

The Human Pangenome Reference Consortium (HPRC) is an NIH-funded research initiative bringing scientists and bioethicists together to develop a human pangenome reference that better represents global human genomic variation. The consortium addresses limitations in the traditional linear human reference genome, which is an incomplete, mosaic assembly and can introduce reference bias that affects variant discovery, disease association studies, and genomic analyses.
