## Description

Hummelkind-Visite e. V. is a nonprofit association based in Berlin that aims to make hospital stays more comfortable for children through supportive companions, engaging information, and educational resources. Its Hummelkind characters, including Simon, Kira, and Finn, are offered as soft toys and feature in medical information books designed to explain illnesses and share guidance about getting well and staying healthy. Warm, friendly figures help children feel reassured and can serve as bedside companions or comfort toys during treatment and recovery.

The association also provides hospital starter packages, which bring together useful and cheerful items for children in clinical settings, as well as themed resources such as advent calendars. Its activities include working with medical students to support hospital staff and visiting children in person at their bedsides. Hummelkind-Visite shares free downloads and educational content, and offers ways for supporters to get involved and donate. Feedback from hospitals, healthcare professionals, educators, and families highlights the characters’ appeal and their use in helping children engage with medical topics, feel less alone, and find moments of distraction during a hospital stay.
