## Description

The Hudson Valley Writers Guild (HVWG) is a vibrant nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting writers across all genres in Upstate New York. Since its founding in 1983, the Guild has become a cornerstone of the literary community, offering an array of resources, including workshops, readings, contests, and a comprehensive events calendar. HVWG’s commitment to fostering creativity is showcased through their annual Albany Word Fest and diverse programs such as open mics, poetry slams, and music events.

The Guild also serves as a vital publishing platform, producing literary journals like "Up The River," "Trailer Park Quarterly," and "Offline." In addition to supporting contemporary writers, HVWG preserves literary history by archiving its pre-2000 records at the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives. By connecting writers with valuable resources and community initiatives, the Hudson Valley Writers Guild plays an essential role in enriching the region's cultural landscape and promoting the literary arts.
