About Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Description

The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) is the largest Counselling and Psychotherapy Association in Ireland, representing over 5,000 members. Established in 1981, our mission is to identify, develop, and maintain professional standards of excellence in the field. As a registered Charity (CHY 6615), we are dedicated to promoting and advancing the profession of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

At the IACP, we serve as a link between those seeking counselling/psychotherapy and those providing it. We offer a comprehensive online directory of accredited Counsellors/Psychotherapists across Ireland, making it easier for individuals to connect with a qualified professional. Additionally, we provide information and set standards for both practice and training in the field.

Our work extends beyond Ireland as we represent Counselling and Psychotherapy at national and international levels. We have established a comprehensive Code of Ethics and Practice and collaborate with other national and international associations to further the development of the profession. With our commitment to excellence and the highest possible standards, the IACP strives to promote Counselling and Psychotherapy as an integral part of the Irish healthcare system.

Through education, training, and professional development, we raise awareness of the value and benefits of therapy while supporting our members in delivering top-quality services to those seeking therapy
