# International Alliance for Diabetes Action - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `iadadiabetes.org` - **Employees:** 2+ - **Company kind:** NON PROFIT ## Description IADA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring vulnerable people in humanitarian crises have access to quality diabetes care and to stop the unnecessary disability and death of people living with diabetes in these settings. It is a partnership of organizations from different sectors, ranging from humanitarian organizations, intergovernmental and UN agencies, to academic institutions, civil society, philanthropic organizations, and the private sector. IADA focuses on developing concrete collaborative initiatives to increase access to and quality of care for people with diabetes in humanitarian settings. By leveraging the unique skills and expertise of its member organizations, IADA works to make sure that quality diabetes care is globally accessible to the most vulnerable populations affected by humanitarian crises. Diabetes is one of the most common non-communicable diseases globally, and individuals with diabetes are particularly vulnerable in humanitarian crises. Lack of access to insulin and continuity of care puts them at immediate risk of death. The current COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the challenges for diabetes care on a global scale. Despite projections of increases in both diabetes and humanitarian crises, the provision of diabetes care in humanitarian settings remains scarce and poorly coordinated. IADA aims to advocate for and ensure the delivery of essential care and medications, as well as establish surveillance systems to monitor and drive progress. In collaboration with its partners, IADA has set four major targets: unified and strengthened advocacy, universal access to essential medicines and diagnostics, establishment of clinical and operational guidelines, and improved and coordinated data and surveillance. These goals require sustained collaborative commitment, and IADA works towards achieving them through partnerships and the involvement of a diverse network of stakeholders.
