## Description

The International Association of Geodesy (IAG) is a distinguished global scientific organization dedicated to advancing the field of geodesy. Founded in 1862, IAG fosters international cooperation in geodetic research, promoting the study of Earth's geometry, rotation, and gravity field. As a constituent of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), IAG plays a crucial role in addressing complex geodetic challenges through dedicated commissions and projects, including the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS).

IAG’s mission involves the establishment and maintenance of robust global and regional reference systems, data analysis, and technological innovation. It also emphasizes education and outreach to bolster geodetic activities worldwide, particularly in developing regions. The organization hosts significant events, including General Assemblies and scientific symposia, and produces authoritative publications such as the Journal of Geodesy and the Geodesists’ Handbook. Through its diverse initiatives, IAG continues to support the global geodetic community and contribute to understanding geophysical changes impacting our planet.
