## Description

IAMAS公式 is the official brand of the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS), a graduate university established by Gifu Prefecture in 2001. IAMAS is widely known for its small capacity graduate school with a strong faculty, and is referred to as IAMAS from its English name, Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences. The university's educational philosophy revolves around the fusion of scientific intelligence and artistic sensibility. IAMAS aims to propose and practice cutting-edge artistic expressions, design, and new approaches to community and manufacturing, while absorbing the latest scientific technology and culture. The university fosters the development of advanced communicators through practical research. In 2014, IAMAS relocated to the Softopia Japan area, where it expanded its activities in an open and accessible field-type campus. IAMAS stands out for its project-based social practices, team teaching by multidisciplinary faculty, and comprehensive curriculum that enables the acquisition of specialized knowledge and skills. Collaboration among students from various fields such as art, design, engineering, and sociology stimulates the expansion of skills and knowledge within a small capacity research environment. Additionally, the strong network of IAMAS alumni is one of the university's attractions. Starting from the 2021 academic year, IAMAS introduced a new doctoral program, allowing students to engage in in-depth research for a total of five years, including the master's program. Leveraging the advantages of being a public graduate school, IAMAS aims to lead future society by actively engaging in practical media expressions while striving for theorization and system building in collaboration with the local community.
