## Description

IATSE Local 479 is a labor union representing professional below-the-line technicians working in motion picture, television, and commercial production in Alabama and Georgia. Its members bring a wide range of craft skills to productions, united by a commitment to trade unionism and the fair representation of workers. The local supports its members’ pursuit of fair wages and working conditions while helping make the region a destination for production.

Based in Atlanta near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Local 479 operates a headquarters with offices, an auditorium, workshops, classrooms, and a rooftop solar array. It provides training programs that combine the knowledge of experienced members with industry standards and best practices, helping pass skills and experience on to new generations of technicians. The local also offers information and resources for crewing up, reporting work, membership, and workplace issues.

Community involvement is another part of its work: members organize events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for local causes.
