## Description

IBBY Canada is a nonprofit organization that brings books and children together to encourage understanding and friendship across cultures. Founded in 1980, it is one of 80 national sections of the International Board on Books for Young People, an organization established in Switzerland in 1953. IBBY Canada believes children’s literature can foster positive change and supports access to books that reflect diverse experiences and voices.

Its programs include Reading with Newcomer Children, launched in 2018 to connect refugee and immigrant children ages 6–12 with books and volunteer readers. Teachers, students, librarians, storytellers, writers, illustrators, and others contribute to the program. IBBY Canada also curates From Sea to Sea to Sea: Celebrating Indigenous Picture Books. The 2025 collection features 25 selected books published in Canada between 2022 and 2024, representing First Nations, Métis, and Inuit voices. In addition, the organization shares news, supports awards and international initiatives, and invites people to join or donate.
