## Description

The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) is an international organization focused on improving food and fibre production through better water and land management. It promotes the productivity of irrigated and drained lands and the responsible application of irrigation, drainage and flood management techniques, while considering environmental needs. ICID brings together national committees, direct members, regional working groups and technical workbodies to support collaboration and knowledge-sharing across these fields.

Its activities include international congresses, the World Irrigation Forum, regional conferences, workshops and other events. ICID also provides publications such as the Irrigation and Drainage Journal, annual reports, special publications and position papers. Its knowledge resources include webinars, e-learning, a multilingual technical dictionary, research and information portals, databases, tools and models. The organization offers capacity-development training and study tours, and supports professional networks, including a forum for young professionals. Through awards and recognition programmes, ICID highlights contributions to irrigation, drainage, water management and heritage.
