## Description

IDAM (Innovation, Development, Autonomy, Mobility) is a Canadian MedTech brand developing a mechanical mobility device designed to help prevent falls and support safer aging. Its patented, unpowered architecture aims to address critical moments that conventional walking aids may not manage, including sit-to-stand transitions, sudden balance loss, and leg weakness or fatigue.

The device combines an articulated arrest linkage that guides an uncontrolled imbalance into a seated descent, chassis geometry intended to distribute the user’s weight across the base, and passive lift assistance to support standing without motors or batteries. IDAM also emphasizes a serviceable mechanical core with field-replaceable components, designed for maintenance by existing facility technicians. The company presents this mechanical-first approach as a way to support reliability in continuous institutional use and reduce maintenance requirements.

IDAM’s intended users and settings include older adults, caregivers, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and care facilities. The brand’s broader mission is to help extend healthy, independent living and ease caregiver demands.
