## Description

The Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) is a research institute focused on economic and social issues, with a strong emphasis on policy-relevant research in India. Its work spans agricultural and rural development, environmental and natural resource economics, industry and development, population and human resources, and social change. The institute also studies globalization and trade, employment and labour markets, and health economics and policy. Its Health Policy Research Unit conducts research on topics including health and poverty, vulnerable populations, health financing, and insurance, with the aim of informing policymakers.

IEG’s research combines analysis of current policy concerns with investigation of emerging issues. Its work includes studies of agricultural growth, natural-resource management, industrial productivity, investment, technology, employment, and trade. The institute shares its research through publications and manages ongoing and completed projects. It also holds events and provides training through its IES Training Section. With dedicated research units and collaborations across organizations, states, and countries, IEG contributes evidence and expertise to discussions on development and public policy.
