iFlora is an innovative platform that combines botany, DNA sequencing technology, and information technology to provide a comprehensive solution for identifying and exploring plant species. Designed for botanists, government agencies, industry professionals, and the general public, iFlora integrates specimen collection, genetic information retrieval, and morphological data analysis into a next-generation digital herbarium.

During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, iFlora aims to encompass 80% of China's vascular plant genera (approximately 2,747) and 25% of species (around 8,000). Building on extensive data accumulated from various research departments, the platform offers a systematic approach to plant data integration, establishing a reference library that supports the understanding of plant diversity and genetic information.

Currently, iFlora features information on 244 families, 1,842 genera, and 7,570 species, including 90,975 DNA barcodes and numerous photographs. The platform also hosts specialized identification tools for nationally protected wild plants and medicinal plants recognized in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, making it an essential resource for diverse plant research and education.
