## Description

IG Umwelt-Zahnmedizin is a nonprofit interest group based in Berlin, Germany, dedicated to protecting health and the environment through the use of compatible, environmentally responsible materials in dentistry. The organization focuses particularly on mercury in dental amalgam, sharing information about its emissions, health and environmental impacts, associated costs, regulations, safe removal, and alternatives. It also addresses the quality and reimbursement of alternative filling materials.

Through its news, articles, videos, events, and public statements, IG Umwelt-Zahnmedizin informs patients, dental professionals, policymakers, and the wider public about developments in environmental health and dental care. Its advocacy includes campaigns for the phase-out of amalgam and for health insurance coverage of alternative standard materials. The website also offers a search tool to help people find amalgam-free dentists, alongside petitions, newsletters, educational resources, and event and photo galleries.

The organization collaborates with experts, partner groups, and the European Network for Environmental Medicine. It is funded through donations and supporting contributions, which it says help preserve its independence and neutrality.
