## Description

Igela is a Basque publishing house based in Iruñea (Pamplona), dedicated to bringing world literature to readers in Basque. Its guiding principle is “only literature, only translations, only in Basque,” and its catalogue reflects a commitment to skilled translation and a wide range of literary voices. Igela publishes works by classic and contemporary authors, including George Orwell, Agatha Christie, Ursula K. Le Guin, W. G. Sebald, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Yoko Ogawa. Its books span literary fiction, crime writing, mysteries, and internationally recognised literature, with stories and ideas exploring history, memory, society, identity and everyday life. The publisher works with a broad community of translators, many of whom have brought major works from languages including English, French, Italian, Russian, Arabic and Scandinavian languages into Basque. Through its website, Igela presents its books, authors and literary series, and shares information about upcoming events and new releases. Readers can browse and purchase titles online, explore the catalogue and sign up for occasional news about forthcoming publications.
