## Description

The Institut de Recerca Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP) is a biomedical research institute based at the Can Ruti Campus in Badalona, Barcelona. Its mission is to generate scientific knowledge and translate research into improvements in healthcare and patient outcomes. The institute promotes translational research, bringing scientific discoveries closer to clinical practice, and works alongside other institutions at the campus.

IGTP’s research spans cancer, infectious diseases, neuroscience, immunology and inflammation, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, liver and digestive diseases, and other areas of health. It also supports innovation through corporate engagement, technology offerings, scientific and technical capabilities, and spin-offs. Its facilities and services include a biobank, bioinformatics and genomics, cytometry, microscopy, proteomics and metabolomics, supercomputing, project management, and a clinical research unit. Strategic initiatives include the Centre for Comparative Medicine and Bioimaging of Catalonia and the GCAT|Genomes for Life project.

Accredited as a Health Research Institute by Spain’s Instituto de Salud Carlos III, IGTP also shares research through news, events, educational activities, podcasts, and public outreach.
